Hometown week closes with Arie visiting Lauren in Virginia Beach. After riding horses along the beach, they embark on a make-out so intense that I actually had to remake this .GIF twice, lessening the frames per second, in order to capture its full length...

I find shots like the above VERY funny if you imagine things from the cameraperson's perspective. Like, how physically close they are to this couple's passionate make-out sesh, all the zooming in and out, and how they were obviously (and successfully) looking to capture that token Bachelor sunlight lens flare back-lighting situation.

I found Lauren's father SO sweet and endearing...

The above really reminds me of my own dad, who on the surface probably appears quite gruff (he is king of the Resting Bitch Face), but who is secretly the biggest softy. I also appreciated how Lauren's dad, like Tia's brother (who I mentioned on The Morning After), wasn't afraid to warm to Arie despite perhaps not expecting to. I think it's an underrated trait to be able to recognize your preconceived notions about another person are wrong and to even admit liking them.

Finally, in a 2.0 version of Tia's self-aware groan at admitting to being in love with Arie, with two Direct-Looks-Into-Camera™...

I love the way her mother sort of processes this and then blurts out, with a bit of a face, "That's weird". This is some great 4th wall breakage. Whenever anyone on this show can admit that it's "weird" to have fallen in love on this TV show, while on the TV show, I'm all for it.

This Rose Ceremony was such a nail-biter! When Arie asked Kendall to go and talk we got a great shot of Transparent Tia...

Finally, this moment flew by, but Tia said something that stood out to me as being something most jilted contestants should say...

More of than not, the Bachelor just tells the woman he's just axed how amazing she is and how she deserves someone great and how he's loved getting to know her. I get that, in many ways, no explanation is really necessary, as he's obviously not going to be 100% honest and say something like, "I'm more attracted to the other women" or "I hated your family" or "I like you but you're a terrible kisser". But I don't think it's unreasonable to want at least a bare bones explanation and I loved that Tia straight-up demanded this.

Я тут не вижу, чтобы 30-летние задумывались о женитьбе за исключением некоторых латиноамериканцев. Хотя, е-2 знакомых из мексиканских семей - эммигранты во 2-м поколении, тоже пока, похоже, не задумываются, хотя им хорошо за 30. У нас очень дорогая жизнь, пока начнешь зарабатывать даже на отдельное жилье, люди за 30 все еще живут с руммейтами. У Ари свой дом, не в этом дело, но как то вообще в обществе нет нацеленности на женитьбу сейчас. Как сказал один актер: "Я не религиозен, я не верю в брак." Но он хотел семью и детей и женщина, которую он полюбил и с которой хотел детей, хотела выйти замуж, он женился. У творческих людей вообще не наблюдаю тяги к женитьбе. Знакомая музыкант, 29 лет, у нее вообще нет стремления к замужеству, знакомая художница 26 лет - та же история. Только геи боролись за узаконивание своих отношений, все оттальные (многие, кого наблюдаю), съезжаются, живут вместе, отношения дают трещину - разбегаются через несколько лет. Ари проживал со своими любимыми женщинами. Теперь, говорит, готов к женитьбе, хотет купить дом побольше для семьи, стал хорошо зарабатывать.
А почему именно как у него а не как у других 19 Xолостяков, у которых не сложилось?

Sharleen Joynt on The Bachelor: Women Tell All

This Women Tell All differed from most. If you were to scroll back over my years worth of recaps for Tell Alls, my opening paragraphs have usually been about my love for them and how that “hot seat” is an opportunity for self-reflection after contestants have seen and watched themselves on TV. This was still and always is the case, but on the whole with this WTA, I found the tone to be very aggressive and on the offensive side given the makeup of well-educated, grounded and high-calibre women.

An example is the glam-shaming drama between Marikh and Chelsea.

Their argument was all about whether or not Chelsea judged and shamed Marikh which really wasn’t the point; it was the malice in Chelsea disclosing that to Arie, whether in good humour or not.

Doing so, of course, subtly paints herself as down-to-earth and outdoorsy (given that it was a hiking date), while not-so-subtly painting Marikh as potentially looks-obsessed and superficial. My humble opinion is that Chelsea should’ve just sincerely apologized for mentioning Marikh’s hair-brushing/”glamming” to Arie (this was her crime, after all, as Seinne rightly pointed out), and I hope (and believe) Marikh would’ve graciously accepted that apology and the compact mirror for the sake of harmony.
