I thought, “Me?” I had never seen the show before, so I was honest and told them I don’t know much about it and I don’t see myself as the type of guy to really go on a show like that — because you think it’s a bunch of guys that are dashing, and I’m a Mississippi boy. It wasn’t something that I ever thought I’d be doing. But I told them it intrigued me, and then it went from there into six months of interviews and all kinds of things.

Did you know Rachel was cast as the Bachelorette before or after you accepted?

I did not know before, and I didn’t know any of the process. I didn’t know who it was going to be. I knew a few people who had been on the season before me, being from Nashville, because it’s a small town. You kind of run into people that have done it in the past and hear stories. I watched Nick’s season, so I got to know the people from watching. I got a phone call from one of the casting directors right after Rachel had been announced, and she goes, “So Lee, did you hear about what happened?” I said, “Yes, ma'am.” She asked if I was still interested, and I said, “Absolutely!” They asked me what I thought and I said I had been watching and that Rachel was probably the classiest girl on the season, and it was somethin’ else. Then I started really paying attention to her and who she was and learning things about her. I got more excited as time went by. The final audition went through, we flew out to L.A., and they did the first cuts and everything. It’s wild.

What was your in-person audition process like?

It was just a bunch of questions. A bunch of pictures and videos. You just tell them who you are, and you don’t really know anything past that.

What do you think makes you different from the other guys?

I’m the only guy that says "y’all" in this group and who plays the guitar and sings. And is from Mississippi. And wears a pair of boots. We had one guy that I met that I think had another pair of boots, but there’s only room for one pair of boots here. I am country to the bone. I have manners. I’m the “yes ma’am, no ma’am”-type guy. I’m the kind of guy to open the door for a girl, and I try to be polite. If she likes that kind of stuff, I think that will make me stand out.

Chris Harrison recently had this to say... "Dean, Peter, Brian, Eric. There's four great candidates right there. They'd all be great Bachelors, they would. I can't poke a hole in any of them, but in all seriousness, we've not picked a Bachelor. So, I can tell you, no Bachelor is chosen." // "Nick popped out of Bachelor in paradise if you remember, we didn't see that coming. We weren't planning on it and then it happened. I think, lesson learned, we're going to wait and just watch it all play out." // "We don't start taping The bachelor for quite some time. So there's no reason -- I know people would love for us to announce it, but there's no reason to. We would just be jumping the gun. So, we're going to wait."

Как я говорила, впервые услышала что Джимми Киммел сказал, что она выбрала Питера, так говорил Реалити Стив тогда.
Но я смотрела шоу и видела, что после первого же ИС с Браяном они уже выглядели парой, а после 2-го все уже было ясно. После нескольких выпусков шоу узнала, что Реалити Стив не был больше уверен в том кого она выбрала, но было известно, что Эрик, Браян и Питер финалисты. Сама я Реалити Стива никогда не читала, просто проскочила информация об этом где то. Стала следить за инстаграмами. На 4 июля было похоже, что Рэчел с Браяном были вместе где то в ЛА. Я говорила раньше, что была информация, которую сообщу позже. Информация была о том, что Браян выставил свою квартиру в Майами в июле на рынок аренды жилья. Возможно собирается переезжать. Питер чуть раньше сообщил, что начинает путешествовать со своим бизнесом, но в основном был в своем штате. Даже не знаю, но пока нe похоже на то. Выпуск прервали на месте, когда возникли вопросы что же будет дальше и все ждут на них ответов. То, что финалисты не проводили ночь вместе такое бывало. В сезоне Али, с которым находят сходство, она отпустила Криса еще до последней ЦР, но точно уже не помню когда. Но и Эмили отпустила Ари в самом начале их последнего свидания и Энди пришла к Нику и попрощалась с ним еще до последнего свидания, кажется. Почему сходство именно с сезоном Али не знаю, посмотрим. Но, похоже, Рэчел придет к Питеру в гостиницу и попрощается с ним еще до последней ЦР, поэтому, наверное, он и окажется на полу, плачущим, похоже, что это было еще когда свет пробивался в окна, но не уверена.

Sharleen Joynt on The Bachelorette Finale

I’m not sure this is the popular opinion, but I could get used to having the lead watch the finale live with us.

Despite the fact that Rachel was visibly (and endearingly) uncomfortable at times, it was a nice touch to have her on hand to give us her ITM-esque play-by-play—anyone notice how she fell into present tense at times?—of how she was feeling during filming.

It was especially nice to have each eliminated man come out directly after we’d seen him eliminated (or self-eliminate) as it felt the most relevant at that time.

It also didn’t detract at all from the happy engagement at the end. Traditionally with finales, we’ve just watched the happy engagement and then have to backtrack to the runner-up sitting across from the lead, demanding answers, particularly to the ever-popular, “When did you know?” It always feels like a slog for the lead, a final, painful hurdle towards the finish line of coming out of hiding and unapologetic happiness. Last night, after Peter’s live moment, it was 100 percent about Rachel and Bryan until the end and I felt this change did the happy couple justice.
