Look it may not be Nikki but I love recycled Bach’s. If it wasn’t going to be Nikki though I would have much preferred Laurina. But as we know she’s taken.
I feel for her, a quick look at the comments on Facebook and hardly anyone is happy about it. I don’t recall a lead announcement having such a negative reaction previously.
Poor Ali....why do I have a feeling I will be writing this a lot on her season....
I had to stop reading the comments on social media - I feel so bad for her! Sophie got 50/50 positive/negative feedback last year, this feels more like 10/90, plus Sophie would be used to dealing with the public's hate, whereas Ali is just a regular girl (who presumably already has some self esteem issues considering the amount of "work" she's had done). Get her into lockdown quick TPTB and have a psychologist on standby please!

I think Ali will really struggle to hide her emotions and will fall hard and early, leaving production to do all kinds of fancy tricks to make a suspenseful show of it.
I'm finding it hard trying to muster any kind of enthusiasm for Ali's season. We've always had such strong, confident, self-assured women as Leads in AU and when I look at Ali I just see a wide-eyed, naiive, idealistic schoolgirl. She's going to need a lot of coaching to pull this off, IMO.

Phwoar, OK this is juicy - New Idea via Daily Mail are claiming Ali was the one to cause the breakup between herself & Grant because she hooked up with his friend. They've apparently even got texts from her to Grant begging for forgiveness. Hmmm...

LOL, all of the Facebook comments I’ve read about this are people calling shenanigans on it, saying that they’re trying to make Ali interesting, calling her a potato and saying she wouldn’t be that saucy
Do you think they would ever recall a Bette though? Like Miss Universe being stripped of her crown, and the first runner up having to take over?
If Ali beat Grant at his own douche game good for her. She fell for Grant in the first place, that alone should be disqualifying. JMO.
I don't know much about Ali O. (didn't watch Tim's season), but she strikes me as someone who's very insecure. I hope she's ready for this, because it doesn't seem like she's strong enough to handle producer manipulation (or public/SM scrutiny either for that matter). The fact that she's already limiting comments on IG is a bad sign, because it means that she's putting too much emphasis on what other people think of her. This girl needs to get a backbone fast, or otherwise she's going to have a miserable time.
I'm not looking forward to watching her and I don't think it will be a good thing for her personally. IMO she is not emotionally well equipped enough to deal with the backlash. I've never seen such a negative response to the announcement of a Lead! Nick Cummins got a mixed reaction but at least he's got humour working for him. In the paparazzi pics coming out the girls are always laughing their heads off and I think his season will be very entertaining, even if he doesn't fit the stereotypical mould.
Ali is just so.... boring. I feel bad saying that but here's no other word IMO. She's probably a nice enough person but she just doesn't have what it takes to carry a season IMO. Despite her "positive affirmation" waffle on Instagram, I think she is actually very insecure (the amount of cosmetic surgery she's had says a lot, IMO). I've read a few interviews and she seems unrealistic about what she's looking for in a relationship. It sounds like she'll settle for nothing less than a fairytale, which doesn't bode well IMO.
Regarding the break up with Grant, I think the truth is probably somewhere between the two versions of events. What I find most interesting about the leaked group chat screenshots is who's involved in the conversation. Nina seems to enjoy sticking her nose into everyone's business, and I don't think it's a coincidence that she was the ONLY contestant also involved in the leaked conversation between Luke and Lisa. Seems to me like she's started up a little side business snitching on her fellow cast mates.

If Grant's involved, nothing surprises me.

Unfortunately the Ali from Tim's season no longer exists thanks to cosmetic help.
And not forgetting in Ali's quest to bag a husband she was engaged to David Waldeck in mid 2015. And more recently she was ready to have Grant's babies.
To me, Ali is the worst choice for the Bachelorette, and I will not be watching.
As for Ali, I am a compassionate person, but I have zero sympathy for her. She chose to be the bachelorette. As far as I'm concerned 'she's made her bed and has to lie in it'.
I agree, Ali did agree to be Bette, and if there is even a nugget of truth in what Grant has claimed she would have to be very naive to not think that it would come out at some point. Although she does come across as naive, so perhaps I answered my own question there!
It's a very bad look for Channel 10 though, I can't imagine they're thrilled. But then if they're going to make her Bette, they would have to know this was lurking in the background.

I really enjoyed Ali on Tim's season, not so much on BIP but Grant's story has so many holes in it.

The Bachelorette runner-up, 37, took to Instagram on Tuesday night to tell Grant, 29, he 'deserved better', adding that the 'right girl will come along' someday.
It comes after Grant alleged on KIIS FM earlier that day that he had walked in on Ali, 32, engaging in a sex act with an acquaintance in his own home.

I’m not taking sides as I have no idea of the facts. However I do wonder why Ali has said nothing to refute Grant’s claims. Could be she has been told to say nothing by Channel 10 to avoid any further damage to her character. I for one don’t find the jucy gossip giving me incentive to watch the Bachelorette.
If anything it's turning me further off. For me, a Bette Lead should be a confident, commanding woman; someone men want to "compete" to spend time with. The kind of girl that's usually out of their league. From the sounds of it, all Grant's friend needed to do was spend 5 minutes with Ali on the stairs and he was "in like Flynn". That ain't no Lead material, IMO.

And now some viewers are calling for Ali Oetjen to be replaced as Bachelorette after she was accused of being unfaithful.
Following Grant's bombshell KIIS FM interview on Tuesday, fans took to social media to urge Network Ten to find somebody new.
Responding to Grant's 'cheating' claims about Ali, 32, one viewer commented: 'Pretty sure she won't be the Bachelorette if that's legit.
'She's limited the comments on her Instagram - don't think Channel Ten will want her series sabotaged before it starts.'
Another vented: 'Very disappointing. The people making decisions need to be reviewed. The choices for Sophie Monk were disappointing and now this. Won’t be watching.'
One fan even called for Ali to be replaced by Bachelor In Paradise's Lisa Hyde.
'Before you start taping, you should consider changing who the Bachelorette is... Lisa all the way,' they suggested.

As I predicted Channel 10 have gone into damage control. I expected nothing less from a television station that trails the ABC in ratings!!!
Now, the Daily Mail has done a deep dive and claim to have found an old interview in Zoo magazine, where Ali, now 33, divulged some ~saucy~ secrets about her sex life.
When Ali was 18 -- she went by Alison back then -- she told the mag about an X-rated helicopter trip that she had with her then-partner.
"I was in a helicopter with my boyfriend last year and I wanted to see what it was like to do it at altitude. So we went for it," she revealed to Zoo. "It was a joy flight, so it was just us, but we had to cut things short because the pilot was getting a bit distracted. It's a wonder the thing didn't crash. But it was still awesome."
"Next time, I'll make sure the pilot can't see us, and then we can make a proper go of it. I'd have to say that I prefer to do it on the ground though."

Seriously??? Classy. This is the sort of person who should be on Love Island or BIP or Ex on the Beach. Not the Bette. I always though people who go on these shows have some degree of exhibitionism, but that takes it to a whole new level. Yuck!!!
That's such a turn off for me. How can viewers be excited about someone with that background?
If this is true, then yikes!! If you and your partner insist on joining the 'Mile High Club,' at least have enough common sense and discretion to do it in the bathroom (behind closed doors). Are they really going to stick with her (even after everything that's come out)? Doesn't sound like a smart move on Ch. 10's part.
